Hello you !
My name is Claudia and today I wanted to share with you a day I absolutely loved spending in Bordeaux. If you haven’t discovered this city yet, don’t wait any longer ! With its rich heritage, best restaurant and relaxed vibe, Bordeaux has everything to charm you.
Ready to join me?
I arrived early in the morning under a beautiful blue sky (thanks, Bordeaux, for the kind weather!). I started the day strolling through the charming city center streets, with cafés and fresh pastries calling my name. Of course, I stopped by the Place de la Bourse and its iconic Miroir d’eau a must-see. Even though I’ve seen it before, I never get tired of it. The reflections, the light, the architecture… it's almost poetic.
I let myself wander through the little streets, past lovely boutiques, pale stone facades, and terraces already buzzing at 11 a.m. I walked by the Grosse Cloche and along Rue Saint-James, which is always lively. I love the vibe here : full of life, but never stressful.
Around noon, I stopped at La Table Deruelle, a restaurant I highly recommend in Bordeaux. Created by two passionate brothers, it pays tribute to their family history their mother runs a cheese shop, and here, everything revolves around cheese, but in a refined, modern, and delicate way.
Bonus : they have a spacious sun-filled terrace that's super enjoyable and rare in Bordeaux.
This isn’t your typical heavy or rustic cheese fare the dishes are creative, light, and beautifully crafted, perfect for a summer lunch. I had a feta brick with red pepper cream, Kalamata olives, and pickled cucumbers absolutely delicious ! Then, a burrata with roasted cherries, basil, tomatoes, and cherry vinegar fresh and flavorful. For dessert, I gave in to their famous chocolate mousse with homemade biscuit and caramelized hazelnuts. Rich, but so elegant.
The setting is as charming as the food, with a strong identity. A hidden gem you really have to discover, probably my best restaurant in bordeaux.
Just don’t forget to book ahead it’s often full !
After that delicious moment, it was time for a post-lunch ride and some cultural discovery with Bordeaux Bike Experience.
By bike, I explored a wider view of Bordeaux : the quays, Chartrons district, Public Garden… all accompanied by a passionate guide sharing fun facts and stories about the city’s history and daily life.
It’s such a great way to experience the city differently at your own pace, outdoors, soaking in the sights. I absolutely loved it!
In the late afternoon, I wandered through Chartrons, a district I love for its peaceful and slightly bohemian feel. Between little art galleries, antique shops, and charming buildings, I took my time to slow down.
The central square is filled with bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a drink or a snack each with its own vibe, but all with that relaxed Bordeaux charm I adore.
To end the day on a high note, I visited La Cité du Vin, a must-see in Bordeaux. The architecture is stunning, the tour is very well designed, and the wine tasting with panoramic views over the city is the perfect final touch.
I came back home feeling light-hearted, my mind full of images, and with just one thought : I need to come back soon. And eat again in my new favorite restaurant in Bordeaux !
Bordeaux has that discreet but powerful charm, the perfect balance of culture, a relaxed lifestyle, and gourmet discoveries. Whether you’re there to eat well, explore, get some fresh air, or simply wander it’s a city to be experienced.
See you soon for more adventures !
